Wirt County Commission to meet

November 17, 2012
Parkersburg News and Sentinel

ELIZABETH- Tuesday's meeting of the Wirt County Commission will include a discussion on the failure of the county's operating levy to pass in the General Election.

Wirt County Commission President Robert Lowe said the commission will discuss how to move forward after the levy was defeated on Nov. 6. Wirt County's levy is for funding employee salaries, building maintenance and supplies and regional jail costs.

The operating levy captured almost 59 percent, 1,215 votes, of the vote this month. The vote marked the second time this year the levy got a simple majority vote, but failed to hit the required 60 percent.

Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. in the Wirt County Courthouse.
