PARKERSBURG - One driver will be cited for failure to yield while another was sent to the hospital in an accident that occurred on Garfield Avenue at 4:35 p.m. Thursday, city police said.
Jace Stickdorn of Columbus, Ohio, was driving a 2012 Volvo S60 southbound in the 2300 block of Garfield Avenue when he attempted to make a left-hand turn from the center lane, police said. The 44-year-old struck a 2002 Volkswagen driven by Susan Hendricks of Vienna, police said.
Hendricks steered away from the collision but was forced to strike a utility pole, said Sgt. S. L. Brunner with the Parkersburg Police Department.
Stickdorn used the lane improperly, according to the police report.
"A turn signal doesn't mean the vehicle in the other lane has to yield to you," said Brunner. "Vehicle one (Stickdorn) is at fault for failure to yield right of way and didn't have the right of way to enter the left lane into the parking lot."
Hendricks was transported to Camden Clark Medical Center with "possible injuries," according to the accident report.
