PARKERSBURG -Parkersburg police are looking for a man in a robbery at Community Bank, 3906 Emerson Ave., Tuesday morning.

The robbery, initially coming in as a bank alarm, occurred around 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, said Parkersburg Police Department Sgt. Greg Collins.

Officers were on scene within three minutes of receiving the call, Collins said. The investigation has revealed that an older white male entered the bank with a hood on his head wearing dark glasses, Collins said.

Security cameras captured the image of the man police said managed to steal an undisclosed amount of money from the bank.

"The suspect allegedly asked for money, advising he had a gun," Collins said. "No gun was actually observed by bank employees."

An undisclosed amount of money was taken.

Earlier in the investigation, it was thought by police that the suspect could have left the area in a vehicle that was parked in a nearby parking lot.

Collins said uniformed officers were able to locate the vehicle a short time later, with detectives identifying and interviewing a male subject who was later released.

Police do not know how the suspect left the area and there is no particular vehicle being looked for, officials said.

The male suspect was described as being in his 50s or 60s, 5 feet 8 inches tall to 5 feet 10 inches tall, 250 pounds, wearing a navy blue hoody with a gray liner and a navy blue coat over the hoody, white sneakers and blue jeans.

Police said no one was injured during the robbery.

More than a half-dozen Parkersburg police cars, many unmarked, were on scene Tuesday. A sign on the entrance to the bank stated it was "closed due to emergency."
