Ernestine B. "Tiny" Parsons, 88, of Mineral Wells, passed away Nov. 12, 2012, at Camden Clark Medical Center.
She was born May 22, 1924 in Jackson County, a daughter of the late Herbert and Nora Jackson Barber. Tiny was a long time member of the Big Tygart United Methodist Church, and had worked in the credit office of Dils Department Store for 10 years. She was a member of the Good Sams Camping Club and the United Methodist Woman. She loved spending time with her family, friends and grandchildren.
Surviving is her son, Gary (Patricia Sue) Parsons of Mineral Wells; two daughters, Brenda (Thomas) Blondin of Parkersburg and Shelia (Charles) Brown of Mineral Wells; seven grandchildren, Craig Parsons, Jay Parsons, Brent Parsons, Chad Brown, Brad Flinn, Michelle Roth and Joanna Palmer; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Eula Jones of Parkersburg; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clairmont Parsons on March 14, 2011; an infant daughter, Sharon Mae Parsons; two brothers, Olin and Merle Barber; and five sisters, Freda Rardin, Edra Hupp, Arla Conner, Luna Thorne and Lola Barber.
The funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Big Tygart United Methodist Church; Rev. Jeff Mayfield, Rev. Rodney Blanchard and Rev. David Deem will officiate, and burial will follow at Rockport Section of the Big Tygart Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. today at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 5th St., Parkersburg, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
