Tyler Consolidated's Allison Wable spikes the ball between Fayetteville's Cassie Semple, left, and Madeleine Pritt Friday during the opening round of the West Virginia Class A State Volleyball Tournament. The Silver Knights won, 3-0.
"We have a true team," said coach Allender, who watched Tristin Toman register a kill for match point in the semifinals during a 25-20, 25-17, 17-25 and 25-10 defeat of Philip Barbour. "When I look at our stats we have no more than one person who leads in one area.
"Five of my girls lead in one category and they are capable. From the beginning of the season they've bought into the idea of team work. It's not me. It's them."
Magnolia, which won its opening round match by scores of 25-23, 25-17 and 25-17 against Sherman, never got going against Williamstown, which improved to 38-8-1 after Kenzie Smith sealed the match via a downed spike. The 'Jackets breezed through the quarterfinal round against Pendleton County (25-13, 25-9, 25-20) as Ciara Flowers and Lincoln Postlewaite combined for 15 kills. Ashton Chancellor chipped in 15 points, five aces and as many kills while Brooke Cieslewski had two dozen digs.
