Circuit court hears four cases Friday

PARKERSBURG - Four hearings took place Friday in Wood County Circuit Court.

* John Michael Phillips, 39, 3023 Gove St., Parkersburg, was sentenced after his guilty plea to three counts of contributing to delinquency or neglect of a minor, a lesser included offense to child neglect creating risk of injury as charged by the May 2012 grand jury. Judge J.D. Beane sentenced him to three consecutive terms of one year in the regional jail suspended for two years probation.

* Austin Paul Pulver, 22, 412 Walnut St., Belpre, was sentenced after his plea by way of an Alford Plea to a charge of fraudulent use of an access device. Beane sentenced him to four years in jail with credit for 12 days served suspended for three years probation. Four counts of fraudulent use of an access device and two counts of conspiracy to commit fraudulent use of an access device were dismissed.

* Joseph Scott Durrette, 31, in custody at the North Central Regional Jail, was sentenced after he admitted to violation of his supervised release. He was sentenced by Judge Robert Waters to one year in prison with credit for 36 days served and will be required to register as a sex offender. On June 1, 2006, he pleaded guilty to a charge of first-degree sexual abuse, a lesser included offense to the charge of second-degree sexual abuse as charged by the September 2005 grand jury. He was sentenced to one to five years in prison and was released on Nov. 19, 2008 to begin his supervised release.

* Dennis Michael Hutton, 26, in custody at the North Central Regional Jail, admitted to the allegations in the petition to revoke his probation. Because he has applied to the drug court, his sentencing was continued to determine if he will be accepted. His sentencing was reset for 3:30 p.m. Dec. 7 before Waters.

Hearings from Thursday:

* Tamara McEowen, 47, 1020 Swann St., Apt. 2, Parkersburg, was sentenced after her guilty plea to a bill of information charging her with a misdemeanor charge of obstruction. Judge Robert Waters sentenced her to eight months in the North Central Regional Jail suspended for two years probation.

* Fredrick Roscoe Coates, 37, 914 Pike St., Parkersburg, was sentenced after his plea to a charge of first-degree sexual abuse, a lesser included offense to the charge of second-degree sexual assault. He was sentenced by Waters to one to five years in prison and will be required to register for life as a sex offender.

* Lucas Alan Heiss, 32, Waterford, Ohio, waived extradition to Washington County, Ohio, after his Nov. 5 arrest in Wood County. He appeared before Waters.

* Shelly Devere Berry, 35, 17 Kings Row, Lot 14, Parkersburg, waived extradition to Washington County, Ohio, after her Nov. 5 arrest. She appeared before Waters.

* Terrell Eugene Morris, 30, in custody at the North Central Regional Jail, entered a plea agreement on the second day of his trial. He pleaded guilty to burglary as charged by the May 2012 grand jury. Judge Jeffrey Reed set sentencing for 2 p.m. Dec. 21.

* Steven Michael Hollins Jr., 25, 932 Keen St., Zanesville, Ohio, was granted a continuance of his sentencing after his guilty plea to a charge of delivery of a controlled substance. He was granted the continuance to allow him time to find an approved home so he can be placed on home confinement. Judge J.D. Beane set sentencing for 9:15 a.m. Dec. 10.
