West Virginia is a beautiful state all together, but here in Wood County, we have wonderful communities. Parkersburg, Vienna and Williamstown - just to name a few - are great towns, with the potential for years of prosperity, and some of the finest people I have ever met. Now, as great as these towns are, Wood County has many small communities that make up its beauty, too. Lubeck, Waverly, Mineral Wells and Boaz are all growing communities with bright futures just waiting to be discovered.
Specifically, the community of Boaz - nestled between Williamstown and Vienna - is growing and is now at its prime to decide a direction for the future. Boaz boasts wonderful hardworking residents, a few businesses, and the advantage of W.Va. 14.
This past June when the terrible storms came through, we here in the Boaz community were isolated from everyone and everything. As a community we lacked communication, we lacked direction, and we lacked leadership. I want to provide the residents of Boaz an opportunity to decide what kind of future Boaz will have. Should we be annexed into Williamstown? Or, should Boaz be incorporated as its own town? The latter option gives the residents the opportunity to start from scratch in developing a personalized team of leaders that will transform this community into the small town of tomorrow.
There will be a meeting Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Boaz Lions Club to discuss our future as a community. Let's work together to bring the Boaz of tomorrow, here today.
