Obama’s neglect of God’s word

November 2, 2012
Parkersburg News and Sentinel

On Dec. 8, 1941, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt broadcast to the world that Dec. 7, 1941, was a day that would live in infamy. May 9, 2012, is another day that I believe should be so classified. Very few people know or care what is significant about May 9.

On May 9, 2012, for the very first time in history of our nation, our president expressed his support for same-sex marriage. The day before on May 8, a Gallup Poll claimed by a margin of 50-48 percent, Americans favor the legalization of same-sex marriage. It is apparent the president along with half the nation has become part of our country's problem. Disregard for God's word.

The Bible in both the Old and New testaments clearly and consistently teaches that homosexual relationships are immoral and contrary to God's will. To support legalization of same-sex is to endorse immorality.

When running for president in 2008, Obama said, "now for me as a Christian, I believe that marriage is a union between a man and a woman. It is a sacred union."

Franklin Graham was able to see that the rhetoric he now uses and made this statement, "in changing his position from t hat of senator/candidate Obama, President Obama, in my view has shaken his fist at the same God who created and defined marriage. It grieves me that our president would now affirm same-sex marriage, though I believe it grieves God even more, this is a sad day for America. May God help us."

Unlike Graham, many preachers remain silent in fear of upsetting some members of their congregation. Others openly condone and endorse homosexuality. If you have any doubts about what I have written, take the time to read the first chapter in the book of Romans. Remember that the Lord is the final authority.
