Clay County 40, Calhoun County 6

CLAY -A fumble recovery in the end zone by Lucas Wilson is the only thing that stood between Clay County and a shutout here Friday night as the Panthers improved to (5-4) with a 40-6 win over the Red Devils of Calhoun County (2-8).

The Panthers opened the scoring with 4:37 left in the first on a 9-yard run from Jordan Lucas to lead 7-0. Clay County would return to the end zone two minutes later when William Stewart hooked up with James Brogan for a 10-yard haul in. Mitchell Schoolcraft would record a score for the Panthers in the second quarter with a 1-yard run with 1:19.

The Panthers would go into the locker room with a 21-0 lead. They would extend the lead one in a half minutes into the second-half on a 32-yard Lucas gallop to paydirt. Adding points to the scoreboard to the Panthers also were Alex Suite hauling in a 15-yard TD with 7:13 in the third, and Michael Gray with a 5-yard run in the fourth period.

Jordan Lucas led all rushers on the night with 13 attempts for 90 yards and two scores, while William Stewart prevailed in the passing category completing 6-of-11 for 68 yards and two scores. The Red Devils' season came to an end with a 2-8 campaign, while Clay County looks to win a playoff spot when it travels to Tug Valley next Friday for the final game of the regular season.

St. Marys 56, Ravenswood 29

ST. MARYS - St. Marys clinched a Class A playoff berth here Friday and also took a giant step toward earning a first round home playoff game by blasting visiting Ravenswood, 56-29, in a Little Kanawha Conference contest.

The Blue Devils moved to 8-1 with the win, heading into next week's regular season finale at Doddridge County.

The only nervous moment for St. Marys came when Ravenswood's Devon Crews returned the opening kickoff 83 yards for a 7-0 Red Devil lead, but by the end of the first quarter it was 22-7 St. Marys and the Blue Devils never looked back.

First, Derek Barnhart scored from 66 yards out, then it was David Gray from 48 and before the quarter was over Andrew Cosper hit Johnny Riggs with a 10-yard TD pass.

Although Crews got his and Ravenswood's second score of the game before halftime, St. Marys added a pair of second-quarter TDs on another Cosper-to-Riggs strike, and a 6-yard Cosper run. It was 36-14 at halftime and the second half was just for show.

Barnhart finished with 130 yards rushing and Cosper threw for 107 yards. Crews led Ravenswood with 61 yards rushing.

Ravenswood fell to 2-7. The Red Devils will entertain Ripley next Friday night.

Warren 49, Logan 8

VINCENT, Ohio -Warren closed out its season in fine fashion Friday night, rolling to a 49-8 win over visiting Logan to finish the 2012 campaign at 4-6.

Quarterback Dylan Leffingwell threw for 146 yards and a touchdown and also rushed for a score as the Warriors took a 28-0 halftime lead before scoring three more times in the third quarter, including a 45-yard interception return for a score by Rodney Barns.
