PARKERSBURG -Two weeks have passed since their last game, so imagine how anxious Parkersburg and Parkersburg South are as Week 10 of the high school football season gets into full gear tonight.
Both schools have playoff hopes on their agenda.
Parkersburg South (5-3) returns to Erickson All-Sports Facility for the second of three straight home games to end the regular season. The Patriots from the Mid-Ohio Valley welcome the 5-3 Patriots from Wheeling Park.
Across town, Parkersburg High (4-4) is approaching its final two games with a playoff mentality. Both games, starting with South Charleston (5-4) at Stadium Field are must-wins in order to advance into the postseason. Same goes for another Wood County program as Williamstown (4-4) travels to Ellenboro to meet a 6-2 Ritchie County squad which has won five straight.
Another marquee matchup has Wirt County (6-2) playing host to Roane County (5-3) in Elizabeth. The last two meetings between the two Little Kanawha Conference programs have been decided by five points or less.
Also team trying to strengthen its resume is St. Marys, which is 7-1 after racking up six consecutive wins. The Blue Devils' opponent at home is a 2-6 Ravenswood program trying to snap a six-game losing streak.
