James "Jim" Arthur Gorrell, 76, of Parkersburg, died Oct. 21, 2012, at Worthington Manor.
He was born March 20, 1936 in Wood County, a son of the late Arthur Clair and Agnes Cecilia Cawley Gorrell. He was a 1955 graduateof Parkersburg High School in Parkersburg. He was a retired chemical operator for GE Plastics and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Country Roads T & A Car Club. He enjoyed bluegrass music and antique cars. He also liked lawn and garden tractors.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Sue Stephens Gorrell; son, James Arthur Gorrell Jr. of Parkersburg; daughter, Julia Anne Bernas (Brad) of Leechburg, Pa.; grandchildren, Christoph James Bernas and Therese Julia Bernas; sisters, Mary Jo Shapley and Patty Kincaid; brothers, Gene, Bob, Mike, Bill and Dave Gorrell; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ted Gorrell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, with Father Neil Buchlein as Celebrant. Burial will follow at the Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday with recitation of the Rosary at 8 p.m.
