MARIETTA - Actress Megan Marie Wilson of Coolville is looking forward to this weekend's Colony Film Festival at the Mid-Ohio Valley Players theater.
Wilson, 27, has an acting role in the film "American Scream King," which will be shown at 10 p.m. today in the Marietta theater at 227 Putnam St.
Wilson described the one-hour 11-minute movie as a dark comedy that was shot in Grand Rapids, Mich. Scenes take place in the basement of a home and contain elements of "creepiness and humor with a gory twist," Wilson said.

"A group of murderous criminals decide to make the ultimate snuff film, only to realize that it might not have the ending they expected in this bloody, low budget shocker," according to the Colony Film Festival's description of "American Scream King." The festival has placed an R rating on the film.
Wilson plays the part of Meagan/Miss America in "American Scream King." It was released in Family Video stores in January, she said. Joel Paul Reisig is writer/director.
When asked whether she thought the movie had a good chance of winning at the Marietta film festival, Wilson said, "As good of a chance as the rest of the movies. It is different than the others."
Wilson said she was happy to be a part of the film festival and wants to use it to network and watch the other films.
Wilson, a graduate of Athens High School, had a lead role in the horror film "Red River" and appeared in the independent movie "Fraternity House." Other film credits include "The Watching" and as an extra in "We Are Marshall" and screen time in "The Avengers."
She appeared in the Cleveland-based television mini-series "Out of Darkness."
Wilson said she is looking for roles in drama, action, romantic comedy movies, instead of just scary movies, and has been acting since 2004.
Wilson said she is in the running for a large role in a proposed movie, "Bird With A Broken Wing," based on the true story of Janelle Lisa Cruz of California, who was murdered in1986.

Stephanie Strong of Parkersburg, who has done Wilson's hair and makeup for movies and events, said Wilson is "driven, works hard and has an actress's mentality."
The goal of the Colony Film Festival, which is tonight and Saturday, is to provide an avenue for showcasing talented regional filmmakers and independent films.
Proceeds from the seventh annual film festival will go to the restoration of the Colony Theater, across the street from MOV Players theater.
