Dowler

Ernest and Eva Dowler of Washington, W.Va., will celebrate their 55th anniversary on Oct. 18.

The couple were married on Oct. 18, 1957, in Parkersburg, by the late R.C. Oliver.

He is the son of the late Charles Ray Dowler and the late Gwendolyn Hope Brunton Dowler. He served in the United States Navy as an aircraft carrier electrician from 1952-1955. He retired as an operator from E.I. DuPont de Nemours Washington Works in July of 1992 after 35 years of service, most of that spent in the Teflon division.

She is the daughter of the late Henry Clyde Kaufman and the late Delma Florence Bloomer Kaufman. She worked for E.I. DuPont de Nemours for five years before retiring to be a homemaker.

Since 1987, they have been the proprietors of Dowler's Supply in Washington, W.Va. They also are members of Hopewell Church of Christ, Washington, W.Va.

Their children include Leslie (Dan) Townsend of Belleville, W.Va., Brian (Cathy) Dowler of Camp Hill, Pa., and Hope (Kevin) Britton of Washington; grandchildren include Andrew, Alex, Allie Townsend, Ashley, Josh and Neely, Jacob Dowler and Sean and David Britton.
