VOLCANO - Pageant winners were selected at Mountwood Park's fourth annual Woof Fest on Sunday.
Organizers said about 350 people and their canine friends came to Mountwood Park for the event. The fest included a poker run, dog blessings, a costume contest and the first Little Miss and Junior Miss Woof Fest Pageant.
Peggy Squires, president of Friends of Mountwood and chairman of Woof Fest, said the Friends of Mountwood organization is glad to have the winners of the pageants as representatives of the park for the next year.

There were two divisions involved in the pageants. One was for a Little Miss, ages 6 to 8. The other was the Junior Miss, ages 9 to 12.
Squires said her daughter, Wendy Williams, was the director for the pageant. Nine girls were in the contest.
"They (the winners) will ride in parades and come to events to help out," said Squires.
The first order of business for the winners was to help with the Woof Fest.
Winner of the Little Miss title was Lyanna Smith and first runner-up was Audrey Sprout. Winner of the Junior Miss title was Shayla Bartlett and first runner-up was Rachelle White.
Proceeds from Woof Fest will help maintain Mountwood's new dog park, and make additions to it. Additions the Friends of Mountwood committee wants to make to the park are a bulletin board, paving at the entrance, lighting, a shelter and upgrades to the restrooms.
