Thompson facing charges in Washington, Wood counties

PARKERSBURG - The Parkersburg Violent Crime and Narcotics Task Force arrested a Parkersburg woman on fugitive from justice charges from Washington County where she is accused of two counts of trafficking heroin.

Stacy Renee Thompson, 32, 3818 Liberty St., was arrested after receiving information from the Washington County Major Crimes Unit as to her the location, the task force said.

Upon making contact with Thompson, agents were advised that firearms were in the residence. Agents obtained a search warrant for and found two handguns, a shotgun, ammunition, a significant amount of prescription pills and money, the task force said.

Agents also charged her with the felony of a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, the task force said. Thompson was convicted of trafficking in heroin in August 2010 in Washington County and due to this was prohibited from possessing firearms.

Thompson was arraigned by Wood County Magistrate Brenda Marshall and bond was set at $5,000 on the firearms charge with no bond set on the fugitive from justice warrant. Thompson was placed in the regional jail pending extradition to Washington County.

The Parkersburg Violent Crime and Narcotics Task Force is comprised of investigators from the Parkersburg Police Department, Wood County Sheriff's Office, Vienna Police Department and West Virginia State Police.
