One of the greatest benefits of living in Washington County is our relative safety. Unlike many southern Ohio counties, we do not have frequent homicides, drive-by shootings or armed robberies. Our safety does not just happen. We have been fortunate over the past seven years to have our safety, our property, our homes and our lives protected by Sheriff Larry Mincks and the leadership he provides to the Washington County Sheriff's Department.
According to the official records of the sheriff's department, crimes in every major category have dropped for the past five years, including homicide, rape, robbery, assault, burglary and larceny. Mincks has put his education and work experience with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the U.S. Air Force, federal law enforcement training and Ohio Peace Officer Training to good use in Washington County. His 45 years of law enforcement experience began with the U.S. Air Force as an intelligence analyst followed by a distinguished career with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the IRS Criminal Investigation Division and the Washington County Sheriff's Department.
If you look at the records of both candidates and compare their education, their experience and their judgment, it will be easy to decide who will continue to keep our county safe. Don't take your safety for granted - vote Mincks.
