PARKERSBURG - A Sunday night house fire on Emerson Avenue is still under investigation.
Parkersburg firefighters responded to a house fire at 937 Emerson Ave. just before 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
The fire was called in by a neighbor, said Capt. Brian Drake of the Parkersburg Fire Department.

"When we responded, flames were coming out of the rear of the house," Drake said.
Crews entered the house to search for anyone inside and after not finding anyone, they went to work on the fire and had it under control within five minutes, he said.

No one was at home at the time the blaze ignited, Drake said. The home's residents arrived on scene a short time later having been alerted by friends that there was a fire.
Firefighters rescued a cat from the home who was found in the downstairs area away from the fire, Drake said.
The residents, who have not been identified, told firefighters they have lived in the home since the summer and that there had been damage in the house from a previous fire.
Drake said investigators were still looking into that.
Officials said the residents were renting the home. The owner of the house has not been identified.
The Parkersburg Fire Department responded with 15 firefighters, five engines, one rescue vehicle and one tower truck.
An early estimate has $25,000 damage done to the house, but an official amount has not been determined.
Investigators were still on the scene Sunday night.
