MARIETTA - From cleaning rugs to giving luxurious manicure, pedicures and long lasting spray tans, two new Marietta businesses hope to offer local residents an array of upscale services.
The Bronze Studio, which opened Sept. 7 on Front Street is the newest and most luxurious tanning and nail salon in the area, said owner Kayleigh Oates. Oates, a Marietta native, spent several years out of the area with her husband who is a veteran of the Marine Corps. When the couple recently moved back to the area, she noticed a void, and decided to fill it herself, she said.
"This town was in dire need of a clean, upscale tanning and nail salon," said Oates.
When building her business, Oates said she wanted to make sure all of her equipment and procedures were the best the industry had to offer. She is particularly proud of her spray tanning booth, which her husband and father custom built for her.
"People come in and are really wowed by it. Most places if you go to get a spray tan, it is just a pop up tent," said Oates.
The procedure is also an improvement on classic spray tanning techniques. The applicator puts out heat, meaning the skin's pores open up, meaning a more even and longer lasting tan. In addition, the Evolv heated spray tanning system allows Oates to customize the vitamin enhanced bronzing formula for each customer.
In addition, the studio's Ovation and Solar Force beds offer quick, powerful tans for customers who want to get in and out quickly, said Oates. The Bronze Studio also prides itself on being on top of the newest offerings in nail and beauty methods. They offer acrylic nails, gel and Shellac polishes, and techniques like Rockstar nails, duck feet nails and caviar nails.
Soon, the studio will also offer Lavish Lashes and eyebrow threading, said Oates. Lavish Lashes are eyelash extensions that last seven to nine weeks. Eyebrow threading is a technique, not just for eyebrow hair, that removes unwanted hair quickly and relatively painlessly, said Oates.
The studio also plans on making itself available for special events such as birthday parties and will have special packages for groups, such as sororities and bridal parties.
Located on BF Goodrich Road in Oak Grove, The Olde World Rug Washing Company is already drawing in a grateful clientele.
"This is the perfect place to start this franchise, here in an old river-based community like Marietta," said Tom Sherman, who co-owns the business with Andy and Adam Fenton.
Sherman recently followed his heart to Marietta, after meeting and falling in love with a "local maiden" online. Sherman, who also owns and operated Professional Carpet System, noticed that a lot of his clients had antique and valuable rugs that they had no way of cleaning.
