Obama’s failed presidency

October 7, 2012
Parkersburg News and Sentinel

I would not sacrifice my son or daughter for all the oil in the Mideast. After seeing the images of our ambassador being dragged through the streets of Libya and apparently tortured to death, I am sickened by our president's reaction. What do we do? We apologize.

The only reason we have a military presence in that area is to protect our interests, which are primarily petroleum. We don't need to continue to sacrifice our sons and daughters and financial resources since we have more than enough here in the U.S. to last for generations. So why do we continue to stay in an area of the world where we are so hated? Let's burn coal, natural gas or anything that will generate energy until we can tap the petroleum under our country that we are being denied access to by our own federal government.

How do we as a country compete with a country like China who has no environmental restraints? West Virginia's coal is being sent by the trainload to the shipping ports and straight to China to fuel their factories and energy plants. But because of federal restrictions we can't use it domestically. In case no one has noticed the air we breathe is the same as the plant worker in Bejing breathes. If it is polluted in China that same air will make its way to our noses. The difference is that China is profiting from our natural resources and we are in a rapid decline.

I, for one, am sick of seeing images of our flag being burned by people who we are sending foreign aid to with money we are borrowing from China.
