Lucy Myrl Layfield, 91, of Parkersburg, formerly of Cairo, passed away Sept. 28, 2012, at Eagle Pointe Nursing Facility in Parkersburg.
She was born April 12, 1921, at Cokeleys, W.Va., a daughter of the late Walter and Mary Mae (McNemar) Layfield.
Lucy worked in the dietary division of Camden Clark Medical Center, and also the Chancellor Hotel and Traveler's Restaurant.
Surviving is her son, Fred Layfield of Smyrna, Ga.; sister, Marian McPherson of Walker; two nephews, Gary Gordon and Richard Gordon; and three nieces, Jo Nichols, Joy Hall and Joan Lee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Bert Layfield and Roscoe Layfield; and sisters, Ruby Layfield, Bertha Gordon and Mildred Layfield.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Raiguel Funeral Home, Cairo, with the Rev. John Barker officiating. Interment will follow at Layfield Cemetery, Cairo. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today.
