PARKERSBURG -It's the biggest rivalry in the Mountain State, no matter the records of the teams.
It's Parkersburg High vs. Parkersburg South and it will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Stadium Field.
The game will pit the 3-3 Patriots against the 4-2 Big Reds. Tickets will go on sale at 8 a.m. Monday in the athletic offices at both high schools, as well as at Anglers Xstream on Camden Avenue. Tickets will be sold until 3:30 p.m. each day through Thursday and until 1 p.m. on Friday, if any remain. Past games have sold out as fast as 45 minutes, although tickets have been available at the gate for some matchups.
PHS is coming off a 38-35 homecoming win over Riverside while South lost to national powerhouse Friendship Collegiate Academy, 60-10, on Friday night.
The city battle highlights virtually a full slate of Friday games as the only two Mid-Ohio Valley teams who will take a week off are Roane County and Williamstown, both 3-3 after Friday night losses.
Perhaps the best matchup will take place at Buffalo, where Wirt County and Buffalo, both 4-1, will meet in a game that will have a significant impact on the Class A ratings.
