PARKERSBURG - Head coach Sandy Swisher's Parkersburg Catholic Crusaderettes played some solid volleyball on Thursday night, but it wasn't quite good enough to keep from being swept during a home triangular by Tyler Consolidated and Ritchie County.
Tyler Consolidated (15-1) improved its winning streak to a dozen straight by sweeping Ritchie County in consecutive 25-15 sets and the Silver Knights held off Parkersburg Catholic by scores of 27-25 and 25-20.
The matches at Parkersburg Catholic, which were Little Kanawha Conference North Division affairs, started with the Rebels (9-7, 3-1 LKC North) posting a tight 25-22 and 28-26 triumph versus the Crusaderettes (7-9-1, 1-3 LKC North).

Parkersburg Catholic's Maddie Roedersheimer returns a volley against Ritchie's Tristin Toman, left, and Amanda Davis during a tri match Thursday in Parkersburg.
Parkersburg Catholic's only lead in the opening set against Ritchie County came at 2-1 when Leah Hughes tallied a service point. Rebels Tristin Toman and Kenna DeLancey then dominated at the net as PCHS fell behind 10-4 and never fully recovered.
In set two, Amy Tennant's assist to Maddie Roedersheimer gave the hosts a quick 2-0 cushion and it was still 19-15 in favor of Parkersburg Catholic after Hannah Fisher put down a spike from a Hannah Reifsteck assist. However, Ritchie County battled back and tied it at 24 on a Vanessa Tallman downed spike and led 25-24 after DeLancey got a kill down the line. Ritchie County was able to hold off a second set point and won the match when DeLancey served for the final two points.
The trio of Toman, DeLancey and Leah Kuhn combined for 20 kills versus PCHS, which was led by Roedersheimer's 11 downed spikes.

Against the Silver Knights, the Rebels took an early 4-2 cushion following an ace from Amanda Davis and a Janessa Adams kill. The tide of the match turned in favor of Tyler Consolidated, which is now 4-0 in LKC North action, when Shay Yonaley served for six straight points, including a pair of aces. A kill from Bridget Matthews via one of Torrye Cline's match-high 22 assists gave the first set to the Silver Knights.
Cline opened the second set against the Rebels with six straight tallies, including two aces. Ritchie County tried to battle back with a Cassidy Ray kill and an Olivia Haught ace. Eventually, Veronica Mueller tallied three straight points to tie set two at 8, but TCHS took the lead for good at 9-8 on a Rebel attack error and then started to pull away as consecutive Megan Carpenter downed spikes gave Kerstyn Cline two straight points as the Silver Knights never looked back.
Torrye Cline had a match-high 14 points and teammate Allison Wable led all spikers with 11 kills.
In the final match of the evening, Reily Sturm served for two straight tallies to give PCHS a 12-8 advantage. However, a Sydney Reed kill cut the deficit to 13-11 and then the serving of Torrye Cline and the play of Wable at the net allowed Tyler Consolidated to forge ahead 16-14. PCHS, which returns to action on Wednesday with St. Marys at Williamstown, actually led 24-23 late, but Haylea LeMasters' push kill put the visitors ahead for good at 26-25.
Parkersburg Catholic fell behind early in set two, but Roedersheimer's dominant play at the net kept the hosts close as they trailed just 12-10, but the Crusaderettes never got any closer than 18-17 after a Reifsteck ace.
Tyler Consolidated will look to continue its winning ways when they play host to Warren and Paden City at 10 a.m. Saturday. The Rebels are back in action at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Ellenboro when Gilmer County and the Crusaderettes visit.
