PARKERSBURG - The Wood County Board of Education will meet at 6:30 p.m. today at the district's 13th and Plum streets offices.
Among the topics on tonight's agenda are a presentation on dispensing medication to students and an update on seventh- and 12th-grade immunizations.
Teresa Morehead, coordinator of health services for Wood County Schools, is expected to speak on both topics.
Morehead said the school system's medication dispensing policy for students was created in 2004 and has been revised almost every two years, but with few substantial changes. The last review and revision was in August.
"The board wanted me to come and discuss where we are with the policy," she said. "I wanted to share with the board and the public what the procedures are currently."
Morehead also will talk about recent changes in state law which required additional vaccinations for students entering seventh- and 12th-grades. Though about 70 students recently were informed they would not be allowed to attend school without proof of the immunizations, Morehead said she will tell the board the school system all of the students are now in compliance.
