Sheriff has modernized office

September 23, 2012
Parkersburg News and Sentinel

With the election approaching, we all seek information and opinions for whom we should vote. In the past we have had good men to serve as sheriff of Wood County, but moving into this century our needs have changed. As a county commissioner, I get to see close up what our elected officials do and stand for. In this changing world we need leaders with future vision and the energy to move us into a future that benefits our community. When we have such leaders, we must give them time to achieve their missions.

Over several decades, our sheriff's department was at a position of becoming technologically obsolete. We elected a sheriff that had the experience, qualifications and vision to move us into the 21st century. Even though many challenges occurred, he has modernized our sheriff's department and continues to make it more efficient and advanced. His creativity and innovation, with the help of an excellent group of officers, had enabled its renovation to occur at a minimal cost.

I believe that Wood County has taken a big leap forward, additionally county records indicate that the department has saved several hundred thousand dollars over the last three years.
