PARKERSBURG-One of two men charged with an August robbery appeared in Wood County Circuit Court Friday for a bond hearing.
Judge J.D. Beane set bond at $250,000 for Matthew Duane Clark, 27, of Walker, in custody at the North Central Regional Jail on a charge of first-degree robbery.
Clark and Doyal Michael Scarberry, 21, 911 Latrobe St., Apt. B, Parkersburg, were arrrested Thursday in connection with the robbery that occurred on Aug. 20 in Parkersburg.
According to police reports, two men forced the victim to empty his pockets and give up a cellphone in the area of Virginia Avenue and Williams Street. Police said Scarberry began swinging his fists at the victim, who, while he moved to prevent being hit, was struck in the face with a tire tool by Clark, causing a laceration and the loss of several teeth.
A witness ran toward the altercation and the two assailants returned to their car and left, police said.
Scarberry is set for a bond hearing on Monday before Beane.
