Trying to obscure Obama’s record

September 18, 2012
Parkersburg News and Sentinel

A letter from Jean Grapes in the Sept. 2 Viewpoint presents a classic example of the rhetoric utilized by the Obama tacticians in their desperate attempt to obfuscate the blatant facts surrounding this nation's plight since November 2008. I suggest one of the few things more vicious than watching a mongoose fight a cobra snake would be observing liberal Democrats trying to defend the record of Barack Obama.

The writer accuses Karl Rove, former adviser to President Bush, of being a devious political animal and a liar, says the only Republican plan is to make Medicare a voucher program, brings up the much-used Democrat distortion of race-bias, plus the time-worn liberal proclamation of lower taxes for the 1 percent. This is a typical scheme of Democrats. They have no solution to anything that does not involve raising taxes, so they stoop to a strategy of attack, demean, smear and utilize class warfare as a tool to divide rather than unite our nation during its most crucial times of vulnerability and incertitude.

The writer denounces Fox News, as do most liberals writing in this forum. They cannot cope with the fact they no longer have total control of the mainstream media in this country. Hence, their underlying desire to simply silence those who oppose and expose their political philosophy. As for the "lying" tag, I don't recall any letters from Grapes back when President Bill Clinton lied under oath during his impeachment hearings.

And to continue in this vein, the writer states "the only Republican plan is to make Medicare a voucher program." Had she read Rep. Paul Ryan's "Concurrent Resolution on the Budget-Fiscal Year 2013," on page 99, it states, "Starting in 2023, seniors, (those who first become eligible by turning 65 after Jan. 1, 2023) would be given a choice of private plans competing alongside the traditional fee-for-service Medicare program on a newly-created Medicare Exchange." Additionally, "The Medicare recipient plan that best suits his or her needs. This is not a voucher program; a Medicare premium support payment would be paid by Medicare, directly to the plan or the fee-for-service program to subsidize its cost. The program would operate in a manner similar to that of the Medicare prescription drug benefit."

If liberals bother to invest their supreme intellect toward the watching of any film documentaries other than those made by Michael Moore, I would hope every registered voter see "2016: Obama's America," prior to election day.
