Iven E. Smith, 80, of Slate, W.Va., passed away Sept. 15, 2012, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 1, 1932, in Wirt County, W.Va., a son of the late Grover C. and Mary Ruby McCoy Smith.
Iven retired from O'Ames after 43 years of service; he enjoyed hunting and fishing and going to the mountains.
He is survived by his wife, Nina Mae Holbert Smith; two daughters, Iva Jean (Jim) McKinley of Ravenswood, W.Va., and Susan E. Smith of Slate, W.Va.; one son, Frank E. (Angelina) Smith of Boaz, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Erik (Lindsey), Bryan Smith, Abigail, Anna and Leah McKinley; and two step-grandchildren, Kayla and Cody Scott.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Carter, Ray, Carl and Dale; three sisters, Gay, Audry and Pearl; and one infant son, Little Erik Edward Smith.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike Street, south Parkersburg, with the Rev. Harold Eaton officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
