Gordon Barrett Tracewell, 89, of Parkersburg, passed away Sept. 11, 2012, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.
He was born May 21, 1923 in Parkersburg, a son of the late Fred Lutellis Tracewell and Ethel Hines Tracewell. Gordon was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and was retired from Ogden Newspapers as a production manager with the Parkersburg Sentinel. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served with the 10th Mountain Division. He was a member of the American Legion, the Elks and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed woodworking and delivering "Meals on Wheels".
Surviving is his wife, Lorraine "Irene" Neal Tracewell; two daughters, Rebecca Kay "Becky" Clinton of Tucson, Ariz. and Cathy Elaine (Dan) Sullivan of Chapel Hill, N.C.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Steve (Patty) Tracewell of Torch, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred, Richard and Larry Tracewell; and three sisters, Betty Thrash, Frances McMillon and Enid Davis.
It was Mr. Tracewell's request to be cremated with no service and no visitation. Burial of his ashes will be at the convenience of the family.
