Regarding Bain, outsourcing and who cares: Romney donated his inheritance to charity and served without salary both as governor and in saving the Olympics. He risked his own money to build Bain Capital, funding and guiding distressed companies and startups, with a spectacular 80 percent success rate: Staples, Sports Authority, AMC Entertainment, Domino's Pizza being examples. Hundreds of thousands of jobs were created, costing American taxpayers nothing.
Regarding Obama's promises on student loans - loans can't be paid back at any interest rate if there are no jobs. The Bain model is clearly superior to Obama' stimulus, which cost taxpayers $841-plus billion and left unemployment averaging 9.1 percent under Obama, not counting Americans who have just given up on finding work. (By the way, unemployment over Bush's eight years averaged 5.25 percent.)
The biggest beneficiaries of investment in Bain are public worker pension funds, including Ohio STRS. Millions of active and retired American teachers and other public workers have Bain to thank for the health and wealth of their pensions.
Bain created American jobs. It's Obama and his cronies who outsource: GM outsources nearly two-thirds of its jobs; 80 percent of GM vehicles are manufactured outside the U.S. This, while U.S. taxpayers are staring at a growing loss from our GM/UAW bailout, recently estimated at $26 billion. How about GE? It operates 277 plants in 43 countries, with less than one-half of its workforce in the U.S. Due directly to Obama favoritism, neither GM nor GE paid any federal income tax in 2010.
Humanity? Compassion? When a partner's daughter went missing, Romney shut down Bain and deployed its assets and personnel to New York City in a rapid, superbly organized (and successful) initiative to find and save the girl. Earlier, among the thousands of hours given by Romney to neighbors in need is the time spent in the ICU with tiny Kate Finlayson, born 3.5 months premature. Tearfully, stroking her tiny back, Romney prayed with Kate's mother for her survival.
Now consider Barack Obama, and his conduct re: babies the same age as Kate. As a state senator, a decade ago, Obama spoke and voted repeatedly against provisions for any care for infants who survive abortions. He killed the Born Alive Infant Protection Act in Illinois, which would have ensured medical care for these children and protected them from being discarded as hospital waste.
Tell me again which guy "cares?"
