PARKERSBURG - If you are a high school fan in Wood County and you plan to go to a game this Friday night, get ready to travel.
That's because none of Wood County's four high school football teams will be at home that evening.
Parkersburg High, Parkersburg South and Williamstown all will be on the road while Parkersburg Catholic's home game will take place on Saturday night, when St. Mary visits Stadium Field for a Little Kanawha Conference contest pitting a pair of Class A teams.
At least fans of the Big Reds won't have to travel far to watch their favorite team as PHS will play Marietta at Don Drumm Stadium in a battle of 1-1 teams that won their season opener but are coming off Friday night loses
Meanwhile, fans of Parkersburg South and Williamstown will have to make long trips to watch their team play. South (2-0) will venture to Morgantown, which also is 2-0.
Williamstown, which was having trouble completing its schedule, will travel to Fairfield Union near Lancaster, Ohio. The Yellowjackets are 1-1 after Friday night's loss at Magnolia. Fairfield Union is 0-2 with losses to New Lexington (28-20) and Liberty Union (21-6).
