Storm brings out generosity

July 8, 2012
Parkersburg News and Sentinel

In the midst of the devastation that has hit our area since June 29, I want to say I have a renewed spirit when it comes to unselfish, caring, loving, concerned and helpful people. We live in Washington Gardens in Washington, W.Va., and today will be the fifth day without power.

When the first storm hit trees were blown down and in the road, power gone immediately and a little panic set in. Generators started and by Saturday morning neighbors were out to help.

Our generator blew up on Saturday as did our neighbors. We were about to lose all our food when another neighbor came over to share his generator with both of us. He was kind enough to allow our neighbors a couple of hours use of his generator. We are so thankful for the generous spirit of our neighbors and I know what it is like to Love Thy Neighbor, not only in words, but actions!
