Gary and Ellen Deem of Vienna will celebrate their 50th anniversary on June 18.
They were married in Lebanon, Va., in 1962.
He is the son of the late Guy and Jennie Wright Deem. Before retiring in 2005, he served the Vienna Police Department for 45 years, 37 as chief of police.

She is the daughter of the late Harley and Edna Enoch Gregg. Before retiring in 1999, she worked as a nurse at E.I. DuPont for 29 years.
They enjoy West Virginia University and Big Reds football, walking, playing golf and spending time with their family.
They are the parents of Gary Michael Deem of Vienna, Gregg Alan (Amy) Deem of Marietta and Mark Wayne (Christy) Deem of Phoenix, Ariz.
They have nine grandchildren, Justine, Jimmy, Steven, Hunter, Shane, Elisabeth, Carla, Chase and the late Christopher, and one great-granddaughter, Elaina.
