Quick to judge, slow to act

May 20, 2012
Parkersburg News and Sentinel

This Sunday at church, the preacher carried on about the topic of homosexual marriage and how the president supported it. I am sure this was a common topic of interest within many places of worship throughout the valley. He preached on about how the nation was going down the wrong road and that the people of God needed to get right again if they wanted the Almighty to heal the nation.

I'm sorry pastors, but with most topics on morality in the nation, it fell on deaf ears. Sure, the people in your congregation agreed with you and said their amens. Of course you were "preaching to the choir" of sheep.

The topic isn't about religious morality but it's about how religious morality will affect the politics of our nation. Let's face it, the vast majority of Christians in the MOV are quick to judge, slow to act, ignorant of the Constitution and lacking any conviction to do more than an occasional prayer for a better tomorrow.

If the Christian majority of the MOV are really that concerned with the splinters in their neighbor's eyes then they need to get off their butts and get active in how this nation works - vote in elections, write to your delegates and congressional reps and stay informed.
