I found a recipe for Browned Butter Peanut Butter Crispy Rice Treats and immediately made it, remembering a recipe for Breakfast Bars back in my 4-H days which were basically this and remembered how to die for they were.
These were no exception. Adding peanut butter to the marshmallow and butter mix before stirring in the crispy rice cereal and pressing it into a pan makes this crispy bar treat extra special. This was intended to be browned butter, but my mom didn't have butter and I soon learned margarine doesn't "brown." I want to try this one again to see if the browned butter makes much of a difference in taste.
Who am I kidding, I want to devour the treats again!
"Joy the Baker Cookbook" is published by Hyperion. It is $19.99.
