PARKERSBURG - The Parkersburg YMCA will have an open house and kickoff for its Edwin L.D. Dils Heart of Our Community Campaign from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
"Bring your family. Learn about the Y's programs. Enjoy snacks," said YMCA spokesman Michelle Yanok. The Edwin L.D. Dils Heart of Our Community Campaign was formerly known as the Strong Kids Campaign.
A guided tour will be available to show the ways the Parkersburg YMCA impacts the community, Yanok said, such as membership opportunities for children and families, assistance for children in child care and sports programs.
YMCA programs teach young people important values such as caring, honesty, respect and responsibility, she said. Through a variety of fun and rewarding activities, they also develop valuable skills while they gain confidence and self-esteem, Yanok said.
"You simply cannot put a price on strengthening and enriching the character of a child," Yanok added.
For more than 140 years, the Parkersburg YMCA has been making the community stronger through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, a press release states.
