Gene and Carolyn Shaffer of Washington celebrated their 60th anniversary April 5.
They were married at the home of Rev. C.B. and Mrs. Morrison of Slate at noon, with Eleanor Wildman and Harry Lemley as witnesses.
He is the son of the late Herbert and Mary Shaffer of Belleville.

He retired from G.E. Plastics, formerly Borg Warner Chemicals.
She is the daughter of the late Herman and Joanna Wildman of south Parkersburg.
She is a homemaker.
They have two sons, Mark (Jill) of Belleville and Tim (Judy) of Belleville. They have two grandsons, Andrew and Adam.
