Melissa Gail Carpenter and James Ryan Scarberry were united in marriage on Nov. 11 at Harmony Baptist Church in Parkersburg. The ceremony was officiated by Pastor Don Yeager.

The bride is the daughter of Jeffrey and Sandra Carpenter of Washington. She is the granddaughter of Charles and Dorothy Nickell of Summerville, S.C., and Richard and Marcia Carpenter, both of Lewisburg.

The groom is the son of James and Betty Jo Scarberry of Kenna. He is the grandson of Dorean Anderson of Kenna and the late Johnnie C. Anderson.

The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father and given in marriage by her family.

Leigh Ann Swigger, friend of the bride, served as the maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Ashleigh Burton, Cynthia Pugh, Brittany Winland and Kristen Lockhart, all friends of the bride.

Robbie Hamilton, friend of the groom, served as the best man. Groomsman included Mike Summers, Dustin Lewis and Patrick McCafferty, all friends of the groom, and Mark Carpenter, friend of the groom and brother of the bride.

The ring bearer was Colby Carpenter, cousin of the bride.

Megan Dillon and Marshall Fields, both friends of the bride and groom, served as honor attendants.

The bride is a 2005 graduate of Parkersburg South High School and a 2009 graduate of the University of Charleston with a bachelor's degree in radiologic science. She is employed at Charleston Area Medical Center Memorial Hospital as a radiologic technologist.

The groom is a 2005 graduate of Ripley High School. He is employed by BBU Services of West Virginia.

Music for the ceremony was provided by Sandy Rice, friend of the bride and groom.

A dinner reception was held at the Comfort Suites in Mineral Wells.

On the eve of the wedding, the groom's parents held a rehearsal dinner at the Lubeck Civic Center.

Following a honeymoon in Riviera Maya, Mexico, the couple resides in Kenna, W.Va.
