David "Allen" and Beatrice "Bea" Smith of Mineral Wells will celebrate their 50th anniversary.

They were married Oct. 28, 1961, at Stephenson United Methodist Church in Parkersburg by Rev. Seibert, where they continue to attend and are members.

He is the son of Christine and the late Jennings Smith of Cairo. He was employed at Marbon/Borg-Warner Chemical/CE of Washington until retiring in 1993 after 35 years of service. After retiring from GE, Allen worked for Mike Barker Construction doing finish work for new homes until 2000 when he retired.

She is the daughter of the late Thomas Orian and the late Dorothy Lucas of Parkersburg. She was employed by Public Debt and Wood County Schools, last working as a teacher's assistant at Mineral Wells Elementary School until retiring in 1999.

Since retiring, the couple have been active in the Pioneer Antique Car Club.

The couple has two sons, Roger (Annette) Smith of Charlotte, N.C., and Darren (Melissa) Smith of Mineral Wells. They have one grandson, Zachary, and two step-grandsons, Justin and Derek.

The couple will celebrate with an open house held by their family from 2-4 p.m. Oct. 29 at Stephenson United Methodist Church in Parkersburg.

Gifts are to be omitted, by cards and well wishes are welcome.
