O’Connell-McIntyre

Sarah L. O'Connell and Steven L. McIntyre were united in marriage in an evening ceremony on April 15 on Miramar Beach in Destin, Fla. Officiating at the seaside ceremony was Patti Terjak.

The bride is the daughter of Carol and Bill O'Connell Jr. of Barboursville, W.Va. She is the granddaughter of Francis and Bill O'Connell Sr. of Ripley, and the late Mae and Jacob Nield of Wiley Ford, W.Va. She is a graduate of Marshall University with a bachelor's degree in public relations.

The groom is the son of Jackie and Gary S. McIntyre of St. Marys. He is the grandson of Geraldine "Gerry" and Don Morris of St. Marys, and the late Lee McIntyre and the late Edith and Lawrence Elder of St. Marys. He received a bachelor's degree in psychology and master's degree in counseling from Marshall University.

The bride was given in marriage and escorted by her mother and father to the bamboo archway at the seaside, which was draped with white silk. The beach chairs were decorated with purple and lavender pomanders made by the mother of the groom. The bride wore a strapless gown with a champagne sash that was embellished with pearls. Her bouquet consisted of orange and purple calla lillies and irises. The groom wore a cream linen suit with deep purple tie. Michael L. Powell, of Huntington, best friend and cousin of the groom, served as best man. He also wore a cream linen suit with purple shirt. Their boutonnieres were orange calla lillies.

A catered reception followed at a nearby beach house. The welcome dinner and cruise was aboard a yacht at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort with music provided by David Hall.

After a honeymoon in St. Lucia, the couple reside in Huntington.
