PARKERSBURG-Prayers for revival were a common theme Thursday at the National Day of Prayer gathering at Fort Boreman Park.

Lisa Davis from First Assembly of God said about 75 people attended the event at the hilltop park overlooking Parkersburg.

"We're calling this 'Pray Over Parkersburg,'" she said as the event began. "The theme this year is from Psalm 91:2, 'I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'"

Davis said the fifth annual event was planned to bring the community together across denominational lines.

"The goal was to bring everyone together," she said.

Margie Henry, who attended the prayer event, said she liked the setting for the prayers.

"I look out at the sunset and everyday it is different," she said. "Looking out I can see the wonderful world and all the beauty God has given to us."

Davis said the common thread of the prayers for revival showed people who came wanted to make a change in the world.

"Revival is when God changes our lives and it starts with Christians who are called to be the light of the world," she said.
