PARKERSBURG Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., is in Afghanistan with three other U.S. Senators, visiting troops and meeting with national leaders about the state of affairs.
Manchin this morning spoke with West Virginia reporters by telephone from Khandahar where he said the Afghani must take control of their nation's security, albeit U.S. support may be required long after American troops leave.
"They've got to be able to fight and die for their country," Manchin said.
