PARKERSBURG - Police have concluded an investigation into a two-vehicle accident at 13th and Juliana streets Monday night that sent five people to hospitals.

"There were no independent witnesses to the accident," said Sgt. Jason Barton with Parkersburg Police Department. "So based on reports and the evidence, we have pieced together what happened."

At about 7:30 p.m., 18-year-old Richard Pence of Parkersburg was driving west on 13th Street with passenger Jennifer McGrew, 22, of Parkersburg in a Dodge truck, said Barton.

As the truck approached the intersection of 13th and Juliana, a Geo Prizm traveling southbound on Juliana, driven by 20-year-old Whitney R. Darnold, made a wide right turn from Juliana Street to 13th Street and was struck by the truck, police said. The passenger side of the Prizm sustained heavy damage, said Barton.

Passengers in the Geo Prizm were 20-year-old Angel Milhoan, 20-year-old Adam Marasco, 19-year-old Kayla Coakly and a 1-year-old boy.

The four adults in the Prizm were sent to St. Joseph's Hospital and Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital and were treated and released, said Barton. McGrew was treated and released at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

The child riding in the back seat of the Prizm was securely strapped in a child safety seat and sustained no injuries. The passengers and drivers in both vehicles were wearing seat belts, said Barton.

"There is no indication of how fast the cars were going," said Barton.

Police said a citation for no proof of insurance was issued to Darnold.
