Learning Enhances and Advances Doddridge, $4,500 to support a "Reading Aloud" program for incarcerated parents at the North Central Regional Jail and parents who are taking educational courses through Opportunity Council.
Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department, $5,000 to support the Mission of Mercy free dental clinic for adults on July 31 and Aug. 1.
Minnie Hamilton Health Systems, $11,000 for equipment and educational materials for training Emergency Medical Service providers and first responders and for community education.
Parkersburg Day Nursery, $5,500 to remodel the kitchen.

Parkersburg Skate Plaza Foundation, $5,000 for the construction of a skate park in Parkersburg.
Peer Support Inc., $10,000 to replace the roofs on the organization's group homes.
Ritchie County 4-H Leaders, $5,000 to remodel the boys cabin restrooms at the 4-H camp.
Ritchie County Primary Care Association, $3,538 to purchase an electrocardiograph machine and cart.
Roane County Schools, $1,730 to purchase an automatic external defibrillator for the school sports complex.
SW Resources, $4,800 to purchase equipment to assist clients in fulfilling work needs of new contracting job.
Salvation Army, $7,119 to purchase security cameras, heating and air conditioning units and a commercial washer for the shelter.
Volunteer Action Center of the Mid-Ohio Valley, $5,000 to expand the Information and Referral Program.
West Virginia Health Right, $3,500 to purchase supplies for the adult dental clinic, which provides dental services to the uninsured poor.

Wood County Mental Health Association, $8,000 to assist low income individuals with a mental health diagnosis with obtaining dentures and partials.
Wood County Society, $2,500 to purchase an aquatic wheelchair and instructional materials to support the Adapted Aquatics Program.
YMCA of Parkersburg, $10,000 to install a drop-ceiling and lighting for the locker room and childcare areas in the YMCA.
PARKERSBURG - The Parkersburg Area Community Foundation Tuesday announced grants for the spring 2009 Community Action Grants program.
The announcement was made during a ceremony at the Parkersburg Municipal Building that was attended by representatives of the organizations and the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation and the Regional Affiliate Foundations of Doddridge, Ritchie, Jackson, Mason Counties and the Little Kanawha Area (Wirt/Calhoun).
The foundation awarded $182,787 to organizations within the foundation's 11-county service region of Washington, Wood, Wirt, Ritchie, Doddridge, Mason, Calhoun, Gilmer, Roane, Pleasants and Jackson counties.
Grants are provided through the Dr. Athey and Veronica Lutz Fund, Resource Conservation Fund, Local History Fund, Michael Eddy Fund, Marion Layton Fund, Mr. and Mrs. Gilmer S. Wharton Anniversary Fund, Coldwater Creek Fund, Albert Wolfe Family Fund, Robert W. Burk Jr. Memorial Fund, the Ira Wharton Memorial Fund, the Virginia S. Hackett Memorial Fund, the Ausenheimer Memorial Trust, the Dennis and Ruby Farley Memorial Fund, the Ray L. and Mabel S. Vannoy Youth Recreation Fund, the Junior Department of Parkersburg Women's Club Endowment Fund, the Cecile G. Morgan Fund, the Galbraith Fund for Mental Health, the Jean H. Stephens Charitable Fund, the Cathryn Sisson Hoblitzell Fund, the Sarajane (Avidon) Levey Fund for the Arts, the Smoot/Widmeyer Community Fund, the Waller C. Hardy Jr. and Charlotte P. Hardy Fund and the unrestricted funds of the foundation.
