Isn't the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport in McKinley district?

Do we as a state really need airports in Clarksburg, Bridgeport, Buckhannon and Elkins? This seems to me a huge waste of taxpayer dollars.

Instead of looking forward, we spend too much time looking back. There is no need for small airports in such close proximity.

WV would be better served by building a regional airport that could easily service Huntington/Charleston/Parkersburg in the western part of the state and another to service the Morgantown/79 corridor.

This is all about priorities...

Is spending this money a priority for our country?

Does this airport really bring in business?

I agree with some of the comments already, we are looking backwards. Smart businesses use video conferencing or teleconferencing to conduct business.

The only "business" that seems to be stuck in the past is our government, ALL levels. Flying or traveling everywhere to meet face to face.

With our looming bankruptcy, face to face is NOT a priority any more....

Businesses would never consider Parkersburg or the MOV area to locate without a commercial airport. Parkersburg is only in the running for the cracker facility because of the commercial airport. Without the airport Parkersburg and the surrounding MOV cities would become a string of ghost towns with businesses and jobs moving out as fast as the moving companies and U-haul could supply the trucks and trailers. The lack of vision and creative thinking by our citizens and political leaders in the Parkersburg area sometimes just astounds me. Stupid is as stupid does.

The Marcellus/Utica boom has resulted in increased airport usage. Jefferson County Airport in OH has more than doubled its traffic this last year. These were primarily business flights and they help bring additional commerce to the area. Infrastructure improvements (air, road, rail, marine, sewer, water, electric, gas, communications) are necessary to attract businesses to WV. In addition to Fed & State dollars, we need to work on creative financing that involves private dollars - public-private partnerships.
