It's a tax, Denver. A completely unnecessary tax. However, to hear you call it a tax makes me smile, considering your kind has defended it from day one.

If unfunded pensions are around 55 million then shouldn't we be paying more know instead of wasting money.why wait till next mayor to start oaying more.

The unfunded pension liability is around $55 million. We pay about $2.5 annually towards it, and will be paying about $4.3 each year by 2020. Police and firefighter pensions are approximately 35% funded in Parkrsburg compared to over 70% in Vienna and below 10% in Charleston and Huntington.

Denver if its just paper projection then leave it alone see how quick the state gets involved.if its not money then don't transfer it. Someone messed up 18-19 months ago wonder who that was. Who was mayor then who was i charge.

It's not about MONEY, it is about a PAPER PROJECTION from 18-19 months ago! So how can you overspend an projection "Fatman?"

And "RealityInTheMOV" what do you call the user fee?

Denver that's my point how much money did users fee bring in then subtract that from surplus we lost money. To me that means we overspent we need to cut spending no one will say how much we have in unfunded pensions.

A new tax like the User Fee tends to fill the coffers.

Denver if we had someone in office that knew what they were doing they should have had 5 times that amount we should have at least 5 percent of total budget in surplus.

If TAX NEWELL wants to survive the next 3 plus years, he better find a new finance director that let's the citizens know where the city stands financially. If this lost was in other cities, not knowing until this late the budget shortfall, they would be fired on the spot. Man up Newell before it's too late.

Lets get someone in charge who knows what they are doing 2 percent in the first couple of months in new budget is not acceptable.what kind of qualifications does our financial director have. City council is just as much to blame no questions were asked at meeting.new city council said they were not going to be yes man to Newell but so far they have given him about everything he has asked for.

Boy, some of you have some major issues. How many of you can honestly say that you can project funds a year and a half from now? If you say you could, you are full of it. A 2% change, very minor in the overall budget.

Think what you want, I see the Mayor has made some great strides in the city in overall beauty and interest. I don't always agree with his logic, (and no, I am not of the same party even though that has nothing to do with my agreeing or disagreeing), but I have to give him credit, he does what he thinks is best and pushes it until he gets it done. These days, that is rare. Most people in his position do things that are popular and not necessarily correct.

I say good job Mayor Newell. Keep up the good work.

Newell probably ran out of fingers and toes when adding up expenditures. He forgot about the $10,000 for the cost of the survey for the baseball park or the $200,000 for the Uptowner Inn. By the way Bob, how are those coming along?

Denver, it is amazing how quickly you say things to make light of your political party and and amazing how quickly you go after anything else the other political party does, do you have any opinions of your own or do they just email them to you every morning?

It came up 2% less then "projected" 18-19 months ago. So what? It was only a PROJECTION in the first place. Its not like they have a deficit!
