Why not just spread the money around the employees already there, since his friend in Charleston decided not to take the job. It's not like anyone in this county needs work!

I really wish people would use their "dumb filter" before posting comments. The County Clerk is the clerk for the COUNTY, therefore cannot do any good or bad for the city. And the salary is set by state code, so he cannot request a raise. I don't even like Rhodes, but people need to quit talking about what they know nothing about.

"Rhodes said he had originally intended to hire an individual from the State Auditor's Office to step into his now vacant administrative assistant's post, but the individual was no longer interested in the job so he changed his plans..."

This all seems very open and transparent...

How can you say he's in it for himself, when he gave his EMPLOYEES the raises? Yes, if he gives himself a raise, then jump his tail, but until he truly shows that he's "in it for himself", you don't have a reason to complain. I'm truly unbiased in this. I don't even know his party affiliation, nor do I care at this point. Give the man a chance to see what he can do before running off at the mouth.

I bet now with the "savings" he will say he needs a raise because he doesnt have an "assistant". I honestly thought Mark would do some good for the city but after reading this and seeing what he has done I am convinced he is in it for himself.
