The biggest hindrance to economic growth is infrastructure. Our roads aren't fit for today’s traffic, much less what will be needed in 20 to 50 years from now.

Our illustrious governor put together a panel and gave it a nice name to discuss roads and the need for funding now so why is there even a discussion of creating a ‘future fund’, particular when there is no discussion as to what that fund would be used for?

Do our elected officials really not understand why so few people have faith in them?

You can't beat something w/ nothing. Mr. Editor, if Sen. Kessler's projects are worth saving for, tell us what they are -- you have a newspaper.

"Without direct specifics," everyone will agree w/ AaronS.

I gotta agree with Aaron on this. What use are the "big" projects if people can't get to them or have issues getting to them?

There is lots to be done. Might as well get to work on it.

The first question should be whether we need to do the big things Kessler envisions? Without direct specifics, I would say no. We need to spend the money now, specifically on infrastructure upgrades. The state should complete widening projects on Route 2, 35, 10, 33, 16 and 73/I-74. And that doesn't include the hundreds of bridges that require immediate attention. Our best hope for the future is to address infrastructure needs NOW.
