AnonymousJohn, I don't want to be harsh, but if you believe what you've said you need to get help. Disgusting perverts lure and groom their victims (yes, she's a victim). They work to wear them down little by little, making them feel wanted and loved and special, until they have the child doing things they never would have done. He had plenty of years to work on her, beginning as a coach in middle school and then moving up to high school. No NORMAL adult looks at a CHILD as a sexual object. He did what people like him do, and no one ever blames the child in a situation like this. She may think she consented, but she didn't consent any more than an infant or young child consents to being sexually abused. The sentence for every single time he laid his disgusting hands on her is 10-20 years. Your thinking is screwed up. I hope you get a clue, apologize to her for blaming her, and become the friend that I'm sure she truly needs right now.

MaryW32 I completely agree with you that it's wrong for a number of reasons, but I feel like you and a lot of others are perceiving it wrong, its not like he had a relationship with all female students, and he was not a vicious predator,Obviously both of them made some poor decisions, I guess all I.m saying is that unless you know all the details or no the situation, there is no room for you to label anyone or judge.

How very sad is it that our society has come to a point where our children think that it's okay for a teacher 36 to have a sexual relationship with a student who is 16. That our kids support this type of behavior and think that there is nothing wrong with it other than the fact he was married. What has this man done to his children, the trust of teachers across the world. He is exactly what is wrong with our society these days. And chances are nothing will be done about it because she was 16. How very sad that the legal age of consent in this day and age is 16 and a grown man, person of trust can have a relationship with this CHILD and get away with it and other children think that it's okay. I am so very sorry John that you think this behavior is alright.

I would like to remain anonymous (I even have a fake alias on here)lets just say I knew both people very well the girl (wont say her name out of respect even though everything gets around in wirt) is my friend and lijiah was my geometry teacher this past year, I'll agree it was wrong what happened but people need to stop being judgmental and realize she wasn't "taken advantage of or victimized, it was very consensual (lets put it that way), and she was 16..it wasn't like she was molested or raped, or that he even talked her into it.. she really liked him, I'll agree it prob. wasn't a good decision ( beings how he was married) but I do not think he is a pedophile or sex offender. - wirt student

As far as it being an as yet unknown situation, why would someone resign so quickly if there was not fire with the smoke? I know of a teacher who did something far less than this and this teacher lost their job and spent time in jail. He needs a criminal conviction to become a member of the sex offender club.

I think he was an excellent classroom teacher and students responded well to him.I question his coaching-a personal opinion-but shame on him if he did cross the line--no matter how fine it was.At this point it is still just strong allegation being investgated. This is not just a teaching or coaching issue. He was trained about this in college and by the school system-avoid situations of question. As parent he wouldn't want his sons exposed to inappropriate behavior by a person in position of trust...Very sorry his own kids will now deal with it personally, the publicity and community fall out.Continued prayers for the involved student, their family and his. Do not blame the school system for this teachers' behavior..there is over sight...but individuals need held accountable. Prayers that this won't cloud the opening of the new school year. There are alot of dedicated and responsible folks there taking care of kids...he is not there now..so let's allow the legal system to work.

This is so disgusting! I don't understand how he was able to resign. Why wasn't he fired! Coaching the girls basketball team - wonder how many other young girls were victimized by this pedophile? Hope he loses his teaching license and is never able to teach again.

If he is convicted will that result in him losing his license to teach? I sure hope so.

This story sickens me. But, I guess it's not always such a good idea to hire someone just because he/she is family....
