We need more "healthy" restaurants in this area...but I guess that's not what people want.

Five Guys had named where they are going to locate, and the Mayor wasn't aware they were putting one in.

Marietta needs an IHOP over by the new Fairfield Inn by Marriott. That would be a perfect location. Plenty of room to build and since Ryan's is no longer there, that area needs something close by for visitors since there are so many hotels in that area. An IHOP or a Cracker Barrel would be wonderful. I would be ok with Williamstown too as another poster suggested. We definitely need something closer to Marietta though.

I live in an area where there are several of both of these restaurants. In my opinion, they are excellent. However, I think the point here should be that someone is interested in investing in the Mid-Ohio Valley. I think that speaks volumes for the Valley.

We should start a new concept of "Restaurant Crawl". Starting in Vienna one would walk (crawl) from eatery to eatery, careful crossing Grand Central with the goal of getting to the heart unit at CCMH while still alive. Winner gets free stints installed. Runner up gets the total of restaurant receipts deducted from hospital bill.

I heard that Starbucks was going to open a store here, but the demographics won't support it.

The IHOP will be going in to that vacant lot by the traffic circle...you know, the one before you get to CVS if you're heading north on 14.

@GoldNBlue...I ate at a Moe's in Destin, FL. Really good food at great prices. You can get a wide variety of tex/mex.

Surprising number of comments about "healthy restaurants". As one reader said, you can eat healthy at home. Now and then, it's nice to go out for a treat. Don't take away my treats! If you don't like it, don't go.

Starbucks will not open here in my lifetime, which is absolutely ridiculous. Number one, look at the line at Tim Horton's in the morning. Number two, look at the daily foot traffic at the Starbucks desk in the Blennerhassett. Number three, look at the car traffic that navigates Grand Central Avenue each and every day. A Starbucks in the plaza at Lakeview and Grand Central, where Tampico is, would be an absolute gold mine. I've actually contacted Starbucks about this location, but only received the "form" response, sending me to a website for a job as a barista. No offense to baristas, but I already have a job.

it amazes me the negativity that SOME of you people constantly show about most things that you comment on. I am not saying one opinion is right or wrong, as everyone is most certainly entitled to their own opinion, but the constant negativity that some show is really mind boggling

Do we REALLY need more resturants? Granted IHOP is great! Five Guys is pricey $20 for two burgers, 2 drinks and a small fry and just not that good for the cost. Wish we could get something to actually do around here besides eat. No wonder there is an obesity problem. Be cool if we could get something like go carts, putt-putt all in one like we use to have behind the mall, or a Target.

Love 5 Guys, And I agree with the person that said Marietta needs more restaurants. The only non fast food national brands they have is Apple Bee's, Shoney's and Bob Evans. And 2 of the 3 stink. Why did Damon's close several years ago?

"Shouldn't the mayor know what is happening in his city?"- It is not HIS city. He was elected to serve the citizens of the city. He'll know when the holding company applies for building permits and the like.

@notopinionated: Let me read a story about a business that hires full-time, or even part-time employees with full benefits, paid vacations, and raises, and you won't hear a peep out of me about it.

YEAAA...we get to come from Ohio acrossed a bumpy bridge, smell poop from the poop plant and be greeted by bums with signs just to eat at another place full of fat people. Vienna needs to build their own bridge and Parkersburg would disappear off the map.
