Hippie - I am an employee at MMH and I just wanted to clarify because someone has given you misinformation.

1. MMH has not laid off any employees at all. They have offered some early retirement to a handful of people. 2. MMH is a not-for-profit organization led by a VOLUNTEER board of directors - they don't get paid either. 3. The Memorial Health System is doing well, but it is making changes to its model of care to ensure it remains strong in the future. With Medicare cuts and new requirements from the government, ALL hospitals,including CCMH, will be having to make adjustments.

Thanks for listening - we all want to be sure people know we are a strong system and we'll continue to provide the care people need here. People don't want to have to travel for good healthcare!

I think it is very interesting that MMH first raised the cost of their health insurance to their employees, then eliminated I believe 140 full time employee positions. When you put all of your eggs in one basket, you have a really strong possibility of losing. For Marietta, I hope they can get by, but many people believe that MMH is in trouble. One thing about CCMC, there is no paid Board of directors, they have eliminated many high level staff, they put their money back into equipment and supplies, and although I do not know this for sure, they are well managed. Only time will tell.
